In its series ‘The Complete Hugo Wolf’, the International Hugo Wolf Academy performed all of Hugo Wolf's piano songs between 2016 and 2023. More than 30 artists participated in the 16 concerts curated and conceived by Brazilian pianist Marcelo Amaral. Renowned American musicologist Susan Youens wrote essayistic introductory texts for all the programmes in this series, which provide an incomparable overview of Wolf's song oeuvre. Thus, at the end of the series, Susan Youens' brief, witty thoughts on each of Hugo Wolf's songs were available – an immeasurable treasure that this volume now brings together in the original English and in German translations, which have been polished by Canadian musicologist Harald Krebs: a unique encyclopaedia of Hugo Wolf's songs.
